Meditation trekkings

These special trips do not only take you along the beautiful tracks trough the Himalaya, one of world’s most wonderful mountains, but also takes you on an inner trip, to your own deeper self. On the menu there are not only Nepali, Ladakhi and Tibetan specialties, but you can also taste of different kind of mediation techniques.

Daily subjects on our way are the morning meditation and evening yoga and of course the nice walks. Besides that, we include moments of awareness to get in deeper contact with ourselves and our surroundings. You’ll have time and space to deepen your practice. And moments of pampering and relaxation are not missing either. Experience with meditation is not a must. Neither do you need to be an athlete to be able to do the hikes in our trekking. Though a healthy physical condition and an open mind are required. Lack of comfort during the trek asks for flexibility and a good mental resistance is welcome.

Ladakh (North India) – June 2010

After a brief introduction in Delhi you fly to Leh. After a few days of acclimatizing we continue to Kulum from where our trekking starts. During 9 days culture and nature are alternating. We walk trough nice little villages, visit monasteries and cross awesome scenery. Back in Leh you’ll have some time to buy souvenirs and go back home trough Delhi. We don’t follow a tight schedule. As soon as you get to Delhi you’ll understand why. Time is flexible. We’ll follow our own rhythm, open ourselves for the moment being and allow the unexpected.

Your trip starts in Delhi where you'll be indulged in the local flavour and from where you’ll fly to Leh. While administration is sorted out, we explore the surroundings of Leh and discover the Ladakhi culture. We visit a few of the many beautiful monasteries, enjoy the city and get used to the altitude. After a few days of acclimatisation we go to Kulum from where our trek (8 to 9 days) starts. During our trek we pass trough Igoo, Chemdey, Kaspang, Takthok, Nang, Arzu and Stakmo from where we have wonderful views on the surrounding mountaintops and valleys. After our trekking we relax a while in Leh and via Delhi you return back home.

General information:

In Ladakh we walk in average 4 to 5 hours a day. The rest of the time we use to enjoy the surroundings and all that life offers us at the moment itself. After acclimatization in Leh (3506 m), we cross several passes and valleys to reach the Kyldirma La (4750 m  highest point of the trek) around the 5th day of the trekking. Gosainkund (Nepal) – May 2010

After tasting the Nepali culture in the Kathmandu valley we head to the Langtang valley in the North. Our trekking starts in Dunche from where we hike towards Helambu passing by the holy lakes of Gosainkund. During 13 days we leave the hectic society behind us, enjoy the contact with local people, the beautiful nature and ourselves. After the trekking you’ll have time to explore Kathmandu.

Also in Nepal we don’t follow a tight schedule. We entrench ourselves completely in the local culture and visit the highlights of the kathmanduvalley. A daytrip along nice scenery brings us to Dunche from where we start our trekking. Adaptation to altitude is going gradually. From 2030m in Dunche we slowly build up to 4380m in Gosainkund where we spend an extra day (if the weather allows) to enjoy the impressive neighborhood. Then we go back downwards trough the forest area of Helambu. This trip offers a wide variety in scenery and close contact with the locals in the villages we pass trough. After the trekking you are again in Kathmandu from where you return home.

General information:

In Gosainkund we walk in average 3 to 4 hours a day with a few exceptions where it might get to 5 to 6 hours. A good physical condition and open mind are required to face the more challenging parts of the trip (the hours are indicative and can differ according to weather circumstances and your condition). We sleep on high altitudes (going from an average of 3000 m). Our luggage (limited weight allowed during trekking) is carried by porters.
